Non-Surgical Liposuction & Fat Removal Procedures

  • CoolSculpting (Zytiq): CoolSculpting is considered a liposuction alternative and uses no incisions or heat.   This procedure is a cryolypolysis method, where cold and negative pressure (suction) on the outside of the skin, promote fat loss.  The fat cells are exposed to cold temperature which cause them to die, but does not harm the surrounding tissue.  The fat cells are more susceptible to being destroyed by such cold temperatures, but the areas which are readily fed with a blood supply, are not affected.  The body rids itself of the dead fat cell and a new one does not grow back in its place. The procedure takes about an hour per areas and the results are usually not visible until 2 to 4 months post-treatment.

  • UltraShape:  UltraShape uses external ultrasonic energy to selectively target fat cells and destroy them.  It requires no anesthesia, incisions or suction and the body rids itself of the affected fat cells.  Results are seen at about 2 to 4 weeks and the average circumference reduction is about 4 centimeters after one treatment. There is no recovery time and you can go back to work right afterwards.  It is also referred to as lunch time lipo.

  • LipoDissolve: LipoDissolve uses a series of injections of a cocktail which may include phosphatidylcholine, deoxycholate, plant extracts, anti-inflammatories, enzymes and other agents.  There is no definitive recipe or protocol for the ingredients so this varies from surgeon to surgeon.  The cocktail is said to break down fat cells, or at the very least trigger them to release their contents.  There are also mixtures which break down some connective tissue and decrease the appearance of cellulite which is caused by the pulling down of connective tissue called fibrous septa.   These injections can be painful and several treatments will be needed to see any results. Please see our Cellulite Treatment section for more information.  This treatment is not regulated and has been offered by many non-physicians at spas and salons as well as doctors' offices. Although there are true success stories without complications out there, there is also scrutiny from some plastic surgeons and physicians. Please consider researching this procedure online extensively before choosing this option.
